History
In view of hardship in life, many barangaymates, mostly farmers, were often coming to the house of Retired Vice Admiral Virgilio Q. Marcelo to ask for help. But no matter how much is given to them, the situation was recurring and did not actually solve their problems. With this, Admiral Marcelo with some community leaders established the Narra Multipurpose Cooperative to serve as a vehicle to uplift the socio-economic condition of the indigents and marginalized families, not only in his home barangay but to the neighboring communities as well.
Narra Multi Purpose Cooperative, Inc., named after the Barangay Narra where it was organized, was registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) on June 28, 2000. Fifteen initial cooperators contributed to put up the starting capital. At first, the cooperative engaged in the supply of fertilizer and other farm inputs to its farmer members through a production loan facility at low interest rate. Palay (rice) trading followed to help market the produce of its members at reasonable price.
In January 2005, with its desire to provide employment to the many jobless indigents in the barangay and neighboring communities, the Cooperative negotiated and acquired a service contract from the San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC) for general ground and facility maintenance and later for some civil and infrastructure works. The Cooperative was awarded to be one of SRPC’s official subcontractors on various services. This marked the rapid growth and expansion of the Cooperative. Income generated from the service contract was revolved to generate more funds and provide more services to members and to non-members. The cooperative established income-generating centers such as the Agribusiness Trading, General Maintenance and Manpower Services Group, Vehicle Rentals, Organic Fertilizer Plant and Seedling Bank. From the initial fifteen (15) members who pooled PhP15,000.00 starting paid up capital, the cooperative has now grown to 230 members and with a total asset of about PhP15 Million as of January 2009.
The Narra Coop was recognized for its outstanding record and it was acclaimed as the newest millionaire cooperative during the Regional Cooperative Month held on October 24, 2007 in San Fernando City, La Union. On March 24, 2008, the Narra Coop received the award as Most Outstanding Entrepreneur in the field of Agriculture in Region 1 during the Ilocos-Pangasinan Regional Development Council Meeting at Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.

Final measure of success at NMC is quality performance. Of equal importance is informing those who are performing well of their success. NMC believes that we can and should be the quality leader in whatever we do. We will only do the tasks which are consistent with our strategy and at which we believe we can excel when we exert our best effort;
We believe in leadership by example. We believe that it is not proper to ask another to do what one would not be willing to do oneself;
We are here to meet our objectives by working together as a team. Because we believe that we work best when we work together, we encourage a highly communicative and informal organizational style. Open disagreement and discussion is encouraged as a method of identifying and solving problems and of resolving conflict, hiding problems is not acceptable;
NMC personnel must evince respect for one another, and for the limits of others’ abilities and aspirations. We must all be truly sensitive to the needs perceptions and values of others. We must also remember that people know their own jobs better than anyone else; and,
It is NMC’s policy to attempt to develop and advance management from within the organization. NMC strives to provide opportunities for rapid development. The foundation for this, is training, NMC provides strong commitment for this.
