During the Regional Cooperative Month Celebration last October 24, 2007 held in the City of San Fernando, La Union and hosted by the provincial government, NMC whose membership has now  metamorphosed  to 200,   was recognized for its outstanding record and was acclaimed as  the newest  millionaire  cooperative of Pangasinan. Based on the record of the Cooperative Development Authority, Dagupan Extension Office, the following are the three acclaimed top three millionaire cooperatives of Pangasinan: Lingayen Catholic Cooperative, Calasiao Employees Credit Cooperative and the Culiling Farmers Trading and Credit Cooperative, San Carlos City.

NMC’s ascendancy into the millionaire coop’s row was accomplished via hard work sustained by professionalism, expertise and dedication in implementing all task assigned and contracted to them. The founders, headed by VAdm Virgilio Q. Marcelo, AFP (Ret), also envisioned NMC to be a provider of job opportunities and other benefits to its members and other project affected peoples not only in Brgy. Narra but to the adjacent barangays of San Roque and San Bonifacion. Their ambitious motive was received with a cold shoulder from even their close barangaymates. This is the reason   why only 25 of them cared to be included as original pundador  of the coop. But NMC through hard work, succeeded in reaching its goal.

It all started when NMC was able to obtain a letter of authorization (LOA) from the San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC). This  gave  NMC  the opportunity to obtain  contract  jobs with  the power corporation.  As of November 30, 2007, NMC got a total of 65 awarded LOA contract.

Since its organization four years ago, NMC has consistently passed the annual evaluation of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) of “no violation of  the labor code of the Philippines.” It was also the recipient of the highest contract price awarded in the year 2006 amounting to PhP1.7M in two phases of gabion making work with the SRPC. In the year 2004 NMC was awarded a  long term vegetation project amounting some PhP1.6M. Last June 12, 2007 NMC inaugurated its organic fertilizer plant with an assessed value of PhP4.9M.

For the year 2008, NMC has lined up the following projects: (1) Put up a modern rice mill with re-circulating drier & main  office; (2) Establish a nursery for forest trees and fruit bearing trees; (3) Contract grower for poultry production; and (4) Establish an aqua culture nursery & fish farm. -#-
PANGASINAN’S NEW MILLIONAIRE COOP
FORMED four years ago 25 visionary persons from Barangay Narra who were affected by the construction of the San Roque Multipurpose Project (SRMP) and who shelled a capital build-up of PhP14,000.00, the group, named Narra Multipurpose Cooperative (NMC) has multiplied their number almost eightfold and now have a total asset of PhP14.9M. NMCs astounding  accomplishment may not qualify the group to be included in Ripley’s Believe It Or  Not , but its rapid development in terms of economic analysis is outstanding, to say the least.
